OBX

We had so much fun on our short vacations to the OBX. I wish we would have been able to stay longer. If we go again next year I think we will try to make it so we can stay for a week. The weather was pretty nice. It was breezy for most of the time but no one seemed to mind, even when we were at the beach.

Everyone loved playing in the water, jumping and running away from the waves. Some were even daring enough to swim, and and on the last day some even rode in on boogie boards, and went out on a kayak.

This is a picture of the beach house we stayed it. It was big enough to fit 20 people!

Day 2 -

We spent time at the beach in the morning
Building a sand castle

Tyler & Mckinzie digging in their hole (Erin said they were making a small Grand Canyon)

That afternoon we headed out to go mini golfing.
Tyler our Pro Golfer some day.

McKinzie and Tyler how...someone...put a golf club into a hole in the wall.

All of the kids watching where the golf balls roll to after you hit them into the 18th hole.

After mini-golfing we went to dinner at Awful Arthur's. They had some great sea food. It is nice to go with people who know where the good places are to eat. That night after the kids went to bed all of the adults did the karaoke on the Playstation. It was fun to watch how everyone got into it. I wish I would have taken some pictures.

Day 3-We spent the morning at the beach, then that afternoon all of the mom's went to lunch at a really good cafe right by the water while all the dad's stayed with the kids and fed them lunch and put together a picnic dinner for them that the kids would eat on the sand dunes.

Before we went to the sand dunes we went to the Wright brothers museum.

Can you believe it has been just over 100 years since the first flight! It is amazing how much we have advanced. Less than 100 years after first flight we went to space and landed on the moon!

The sand dunes were my favorite part. Everyone, including the adults (except me), had so much fun jumping, sliding, climbing, running, rolling and watching an amazing sunset.

Erin sliding down. Tyler & Mckinzie climbing up.

Tyler climbing up the hill on the sand dunes. He hated the sand getting in his eyes but he would just wipe his eyes off once he got to the top and then do it again, and again, and again.

GO!
The Dads, Dan, James, Brian, rolling down.
Dan 1st, Brian 2nd, James 3rd!

This is a picture of the sunset that we got right before our camera broke. Sand got stuck in it.

Day 4-We again spent the morning at the beach. This was the nicest weather day there. I wish we had some pictures. Some of the other people we were with have some so I will post some when I get them. After the beach and a soak in the hot tub we packed everything up and before we went to a good BBQ shack (Tyler loved the ribs), and then we went to a light house. Dan and Erin went to the top. Tyler was fine until he saw them up there. I told him next time we come to OBX he can go up there. Now he says all the time "next year I get to go up the light house"...I guess we have to make sure we go now... We had so much fun I think we will for sure. This was a great time to go because it is end of the season so there aren't very many people there and the weather is okay. OBX is a very popular place in the summer. There a tons of beach house for rent all over and they are full during the summer. You could live in a house there and rent it our during the summer and not have to worry about paying your mortgage for the whole year.

If anyone wants to go... I could do another vacation...how does this weekend sound?
